Football Festival of Specialist Schools for Dyslexia

On Wednesday 10th October, Northease Manor hosted the 7th Annual Football Festival for schools that specialise in the teaching of pupils with severe Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia). There are very few schools in the country that provide a whole school approach to Dyslexia but seven schools participated in the competition and they came from as far as Wiltshire, Suffolk and Kent.
The Festival stretched over the whole day with each school playing six matches as part of a league competition. Pupils and staff then retired to the Tudor Hall for much needed refreshments and the presentation of trophies and medals.

Professional footballer Paul Reid, from Brighton and Hove FC, very kindly presented a signed shirt and football, and congratulated the pupils on the high standard of play throughout the Festival. He reminded the boys and girls of the need to
persevere in all areas of life, whether it was football or overcoming Dyslexia.

More House were the overall winners with Northease Manor being awarded the CReSTeD Trophy for Sportsmanship. Player of the Tournament was Finn Boyle of the Old Rectory School and the runner-up was Euan Jones of More House.

A special thanks was made to all the sponsors of the Festival which gave a special opportunity for children with
severe Specific Learning Difficulties to compete against each other and recognise that there are many children with similar needs across the country.
