Leavers Day 2007
People talk about the ‘gift’ of dyslexia, well, yes, they are right but it is not a smooth cuddly gift, it is a spiky one and the spikes are all to do with perseverance, self knowledge and an acceptance of limitations in some areas. They are to do with picking yourself up when experience knocks you down and knowing that you may have to try harder than others to achieve the same things. If the dyslexic person learns to do this, then they have achieved the situation where the ‘special’ gift, or gifts, are able to be developed.
Northease Manor is a special place where people understand the many different problems associated with dyslexia. The work place and Higher Education establishments are much better informed now, than they were and you can hope to find people who will understand and encourage you in whatever you wish to do. You may not find people with the patience of Mr Stanley or the caring support from Mr Ludlow and Mrs Stanley and all the staff that you take for granted here at this school but now you are ready to leave us and you can cope. Good luck to you all.
