Heather Reid
 (14/05/2001 to 22/06/2005)

Heather was a boarder at Northease Manor who travelled down from her home in Lincolnshire.  As a severe dyslexic, Heather had made tremendous strides at Northease Manor in terms of her self esteem and progress across the curriculum, particularly with her literacy skills.  She enjoyed considerable success in Modern Dance and left Northease Manor in July 2005 with very creditable GCSE results.

Heather then went on to study at 6th form level and Barbara and I visited her in January 2007
to catch up on her progress.  It was a delight to see her as Heather had continued to progress, particularly in her self confidence and independent skills, so much so, that she is now Head Girl!  She is also Head of House and Netball captain and is studying three A levels including Performing Arts, PE and Media Studies.  She has starred in the school’s production of Les Miserable and is enjoying considerable success at her school.

Heather is particularly interested in a career in Nursing and has applied to four Universities to study Mental Health.

Heather is to be congratulated on her outstanding success and her perseverance and determination to succeed.  She is yet another example of somebody who originally was failing in her education because of a lack of appropriate support.  Before Northease Manor, she was struggling desperately to master the basic skills.  Now, Heather is an independent and confident student who is extremely well placed to study to a high academic level and to then contribute to her community and society in general.

Congratulations to Heather and we all look forward to hearing yet more positive news in the future.
