On Friday 12th Janaury 2007, two doctors from the Children's Head Injury Service at Chaily Heritage (Dr Janet Bjorn and Dr Neil Wimalasundera) came to Northease Manor to make a short film with the help of Ben Watts, his mother and Mr Stanley, the Headteacher.
The film was intended for inclusion in a powerpoint presentation on the development of a community service for children who have experienced ABI (Acquired Brain Injury). ABI includes trauma, infection, brain surgery etc. The completed presentation will be given to a number of professional groups over the next few months in order to draw attention to the need for more community awareness and resources to support children and families following ABI. The first presentation is to be given at the Maudsley/King's College Hospital, to Consultant Specialists on Friday 19th January.
I should like to convey many thanks to Mr Stanley, Ben and Mrs Watts for their most helpful participation. Their comments are bound to prove extremely valuable and stimulate some interesting discussions between the specialist professional groups.
